I would like to say thank you to anyone who comments through this blog. I appreciate all comments, and don't want to put anyone off at all. But I thought that I should respond to one or two recent comments about one of my regular readers, Iain Hall.
I've looked at Mr Hall's blogs, and while I disagree with many of the views he puts, I don't find that he explains them offensively, nor that he is abusive or even particularly arrogant. This puts him outside many conservative commentators that I have read! I usually simply find that he is interested in putting forward challenging views. All of us need to be able to justify the views that we hold, and so I am always happy to have a solid, fact-based debate on issues that interest me.
In the interests of avoiding a flame war, or alternatively in the interests of diversity and debate, Mr Hall is welcome to comment on my blog, in the spirit of good bloggers, as is anyone else.
I, as before, reserve my right to moderate comments that I think are irrelevant, or unhelpful, or repetitive, or just that I don't think fit within the spirit of the debate (same goes for anyone else - I'm not interested in simply preaching to the converted).
cheers dears

Hoorah for you, Cherry Ripe!
My observation is that there's abusive idiots on both sides of the political blogosphere. If you can believe it, I was complimented by a blogger the other day for disagreeing politely with him. It's a sad state of affairs when being polite is out of the ordinary!
So here's to the spirit of constructive, inclusive and polite debate! Cheers to you too, my dear.
Having read Mr. Halls blog on and off for the past year I must disagree with your comments CR.
He is indeed arrogant, and if you read his dribble about indigenous Australians, he is also a racist.
The situation with Iain’s attitude to Australians who are killed in police custody is that he continues to deny the evidence, that is clearly available, showing that recent European arrivals to this country (new Australians) have created a culture that says it's okay for our law enforcement to kill Australians if they have dark skin.
It doesn’t matter how much you talk to Iain in his comments, he never changes his views.
I have given up reading or commenting at his site for this reason. So has just about everyone who has ever tried to have a reasoned discussion with him. Only his very few 'fellow travelers' still comment at boltwatch-watch.
If you pretend to know what you are talking about, like Iain does, and don't listen to people who have first hand knowledge, most readers soon realise it isn't worth the effort trying to have a discussion with you.
Hi Cherry
I have not been reading your blog a lot lately mainly because you have not posted much over the silly season and I am rather flattered that you have written a post about Moi.
You are correct that I do some times like to stir the possum; I do try to seriously consider the issues in a slightly whimsical way.(if that is not to much of a contradiction) But after just over a year of blogging I do have some baggage and a string of trolls baying for my electric blood.
But what’s done is done and I can't take back the battles fought (some won some lost) I have moved to a new blog same sort of stuff but a new platform ( http://iainhall.wordpress.com/) and like you I value civility above everything else when it comes to people who visit. As I see it blogs are not public spaces they are more an extension of our houses, private spaces that we invite others to visit so when I have visitors to my place I play the genial host and I expect my guests to be respectful in return. And it has been my experience that most are. I even feel that I have received a return, of sorts from one poster who has been in "snark mode" since I moved to Wordpress however he made a faux pas and put something in a comment which could have been most inconvenient to him had it remained and I did the honorable thing and removed it when he requested that I do so. Since then he has recognised the value of civility and we may still be at odds politically but I think that he realizes that I am not the villain that some of my detractors may try to paint me.
Please Forgive my rambling response and accept a cordial invitation to drop in to my new place for a visit, I may not be able to offer you a cupper over the ether but I’ll do my best to make you welcome none the less and that goes for any of your readers as well.
Ps can I suggest that the word verrifacation is in fact unnecessary when you are moderating your comments (I just hate the damn thing)
